A Trip Not In Vain
My mother-in-law is ninety-one and very independent. For some time, she has requested for us to come visit and be with her. We have visited many times thru the years since 2000 when they first moved back to the USA from the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. But this time her request expressed a different demeanor, she wanted our presence to be fixed here with her. She desired our company. Someone she could rely on and trust. Someone like her daughter, my wife. We came in July 2019 with no other specific plan than to be with her. Then in February 2020 the Corona virus struck. And we are glad we came when we did; to be with her. It is 5:30 am, April 30, 2020, and light is barely coming thru the sky. The back yard is in shadows.
