THE SPIRIT OF POWER, LOVE, AND A SOUND MIND
The last few weeks I have been meditating on a verse, which was brought to my attention during a Sunday School class. 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." This verse is not new to me. I have heard many people quote this verse to me on various occasions. On each one of those the emphasis was on what God has not given to us, a spirit of fear. I did a word study of that word "fear" and discovered that the word used in the Greek, when translated to English should have been the word “cowardice”. The true focus or intent of the author, Apostle Paul, was on that which God did give us “a Spirit of Power, and of Love, and of a sound mind".
